DISC (Development for Inclusivity and Sustainable Communities)

DISC (Development for Inclusivity and Sustainable Communities) offers young people and ethnic minorities opportunities to take practical actions and produce outcomes to address issues which are important in their local community and in doing so will support them in developing peaceful, inclusive and sustainable communities. The Disc Training and Development officer is based in the Resource Centre in Letterkenny and works across the twelve border counties. Since September 2009 DISC has engaged 1686 beneficiaries in all engagements in the 12 county cross border region.

EURES

EURES: has traditionally been a function of the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre’s advice giving section. However in line with the EURES Cross Border Partnership’s 3 Year Plan, BURC has developed a number of community engagements to encourage integration and the development of relationships between cross border workers and service provision in the eligible cross border region, directly engaging over 130 participants in project based activities.

North Antrim Community Focus

North Antrim Community Focus supports the development of community infrastructure for the development of sustainable communities in the North Antrim and Ballymena areas. Mjor achievements in this year include the development of a North Antrim and Ballymunn (Inner City North Dublin): Wider Horizons Programme. This programme will engage 21 young people from the North Antrim and Ballymunn areas, on a cross community basis in a unique community development programme and addresses questions of their mutual understanding by bringing them in contact with their Shared History, through the Messines Experience.

Leaders for Transformation

Leaders for Transformation is promoted by partner organisation the Fellowship of Messines Association and supported by BURC. Leaders for Transformation contributes to the building of transformed, integrated and sustainable communities through peace building activities that strengthen social and economic regeneration and capacity building among grass roots individuals. LFT has benefited over 500 participants since it began in February 2008.

CAFE (Citizenship and Fellowship Education)

CAFE (Citizenship and Fellowship Education) aims to actively contribute to Peace & Reconciliation in our divided Society by enabling participants including young people, women , ex combatants and ex-service forces and other marginalised groups to engage in dialogue, learning and networking opportunities that encourage and guide their participation in building sustainable communities, broadening their horizons and understanding of the society in which they live. Since July 2009 CAFE has engaged 785 beneficiaries in all engagements in the 12 county cross-border region.
